Crooked Path Podcast MP3s Now Available

I've bowed to the inevitable, and put the complete set of podcasts for The Crooked Path onto a data DVD, and those of you who have been looking for the old episodes can now purchase them on one handy disc...

This data DVD contains all the original episodes - 112 of them - plus the pilot and one or two supplimental ones, along with an insert sheet listing the episodes and their contents.

The Crooked Path was a popular and controversial podcast thast focussed on Traditional Witchcraft. Filled with Lore, practical techniques, interviews with Crafters and music from the likes of Wendy Rule, it was one of the few podcasts to focus on non-Wiccan Witchcraft. Of course, there are more catering to thatgenre now.

I closed the original Crooked Path website, but new episodes go up on an infrequent schedule at the new site, Peter's Crooked Path. I hope to be back to regular weekly podcasts by the end of this year.

Update on Sybil Leek: Out of the Shadows

Some of you have noticed that Christine Jones' book Sybil Leek: Out of the Shadows was released prior to being fully proofed. The reason for this is that Christine is unwell, and was afraid that she would not survive to hold the book in her hands. So we elected to rush the book through, and she has been very effusive about how much it meant to her to see and hold the published book.

Now Christine is still unwell, though she is doing better, and we will be updating the book this week with a revised interior, proofed and corrected. This isn't the way we normally do things, but I am sure you will all understand the exception we made for this dear lady.

Peter

Pendraig Publishing at Pagan Pride

Yesterday we loaded up the car and drove north to Bakersfield, CA, to the Kern County Pagan Pride Day. Aside from giving me an oportunity to teach my Visceral Magick workshop and sign some books, it was a chance to hang out with friends and make some new ones.

As you can see from the photo, in addition to myself, on the left, we had Jo-Ann Mierzwicki, our layout artist (center) and author S. P. Hendrick (right), and lurking under the tree in the background is my camera-shy wife, Linda. The photo was taken by Jo-Ann's husband, author Tony Mierzwicki (Graeco-Egyptian Magick, Immanion Press). We had a great time, and were made very welcome by organizer and children's author Katie Olivares (ABC Book of Shadows and Orion on the Goddess, DVD).

Next Saturday we'll be doing the whole thing again, only this time we will be heading out to the Antelpe Valley Pagan Pride Day, in Palmdale, CA. If you are in the area, why not come and say hello!

Book Trailer - Son of Air and Darkness

This trailer for Son of Air and Darkness, by S. P. Hendrick, stars Stephen White as Dubhghall Mac Cu, and S. P. Hendrick as the Morrigan.

I Was Right!

Yes, I was right - Saturday was a LOT of fun - in fact the whole weekend was fun! First of all, I got to play with my toys - hi-def camera, green screen, costumes, actors and lights - and then I got to spend Sunday playing wit hthe software toys. I used After Effects, working in HD, to apply the backgrounds to the footage I shot on Saturday, and I have to say it is a big improvement from using standard def (DV). So I've got all the footage for the first trailer processed, and I'll be editing the clips together tonight for the first Son of Air and Darkness trailer, which I will post here, of course.

On Sunday evening Ann Finnin gave us a sneak peek at her presentation for her trip to London next month (She and Dave are attending A Day For Gerald).

On an unrelated note, I heard that on some forum or other about Traditional Witchcraft, people are sounding off about the fact that we just published the book about Sybil Leek, and we are publishing three books by Ray Buckland. You'd think that people would be happy to have the material available, but certain folks seem very unhappy that it is me putting them out. I guess I should be flattered that  I loom so large in their lives, but seriously... I wish they would grow up! Apparently the thought that Pendraig or I personally might be doing well really bothers them, so I guess I'm going to have to just keep bothering them :o)

Book Trailer Taping This Weekend

Saturday is going to be fun... we are filming a couple of trailers for Son of Air and Darkness, by S. P. Hendrick, and unlike my previous trailers, we actually have actors and costumes and stuff. We've found the perfect actor to play Dubhghall, Stephen White, and I think the day is going to be a lot of fun indeed.

So watch this space for the premiere of the trailers :o)

Works In Progress

I'm gearing up to rewriting Visceral Magick. This time it will include new information and practical techniques, based on my continued exploration of the subject. Once that is done, I will finally get around to writing the fantasy Witch Blood trilogy I've been wanting to do.

But first, some publishing projects need finishing. Sybil Leek: Out of the Shadows, by Christine Jones, is now available, and Journeys Out of Time, by Michael Berman, is having the finishing touches added prior to going to print. Also at the "nearly ready for print" stage is the anthology on Hedgewitchery edited by Veronica Cummer, To Fly by Night.

Really exciting - for me at least - is the news that we have signed Raymond Buckland to do two books, a new one called Domino Divination, and a reprint of the classic Practical Color Magick. Hopefully there will be more titles from Dr. Buckland after these are completed.

We also have a new DVD arriving soon - Introduction to Southern Conjure, with Orion Foxwood. And just to be a complete tease, we are working on a huge project with Orion, so watch this space for further news.

Lastly, I am finally going to get my original two books, The Book of the Veil and Through the Veil, reprinted along with new material in the single volume Ancient Egyptian Mysteries.

Peter

SybilLeek: Out of the Shadows Book Trailer

Making the Goddess Bowl or Faery Altar

New Books, New Authors, New DVD

My Grimoire for Modern Cunningfolk is now available, as is Sybil Leek: Out of the Shadows, by Christine Jones. I'm very proud of both of these titles, and I really hope they are doing well.

We are also about to release a new DVD, Introduction to Southern Conjure with Orion Foxwood. It is going to be the first in a series on Conjure, so keep an eye out for the rest.

But the really big news is that we just signed a new author to Pendraig, Raymond Buckland - yes, that Raymond Buckland. He's doing two titles with us initially - a new book called Domino Divination, and a reprint of the classic Practical Color Magick - but we hope to do many more with him.

In other news, I'm going to be doing my Visceral Magick workshop at the Pagan Pride events for Kern County and Antelope Valley in September, and a bunch of different workshops at Shadow Harvest in North Carolina this November.

The Visceral Magick book is coming along nicely. I'm doing a rewrite, partly because I've continued to work with it and got new stuff, and partly because the nearly complete manuscript was on a thumbdrive that I managed to lose... but in any case, with the new material it is going to be even better, so it will be worth the wait.

Bendith,

Peter
